I believe, and have read, that hand made magick items work better than store bought items; because your own energy (and sometimes blood, sweat and tears!) is infused in it. I've made most of my own amulets, statues and altar cloths. (I also do this because I have loads of craft stuff, and no money to spend on store bought stuff)
And if you're like me, crafting feels like your only talent worth mentioning.
I am very proud of my embroidery skills, and I'm not half bad at sculpting polymer clay, either.
My opinion is, if you can make it yourself, you should.
