Practical Magic book of shadows

After I published the first post, I decided to go ahead and cover the binders with brown wrapping paper and draw on them. None of the drawings are mine, I just free hand copied them from Deviantart. Tell me what you think.

Glass

I had a thought earlier today.

While thinking about using a glow in the dark glass jellyfish as an element representation in my circles; which lead me to think about how glass is made.
Using fire and sand, or sometimes lightning and sand, glass can be made into any shape.
I was thinking, could glass be used to represent fire and earth?
And while I'm on the subject; could bubbles be used to air and water?

Any thoughts?

Gravestones

I know the Wiccan soldier gravestone pentacle http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18274639/ns/us_news-military/t/wiccan-symbol-ok-military-headstones/ is an old story, but I have some thoughts.

Being a daughter of a soldier (non-wiccan) I have mixed feelings about the government. I feel that the government should not have a say in what goes onto someone's headstone; as they are dead and technically no longer a citizen of the United States.  And while technically the government "owns" soldiers while they are alive, they are no longer in charge of them when they are dead.
And even if the soldier is buried in a government cemetery (Arlington National Cemetery) they should not have a say in the gravestone, even if they are paying for the gravestone, (every soldier should get a free headstone when they sign up, it's grim, but headstones are expensive.)

I feel that graves are really for the people we leave behind, a reminder that someone was once there.
And the government needs to mind their own broken budget business.

reading nook: canopy

I made this over the weekend, with the help of my mom. I used blue and green tulle, a hula-hoop, a flower garland from the dollar store, and orange Halloween lights.

fiction

I love fiction concerning Wicca. But, most often they portray Christian religion as the enemy. And in the most base sense, all religions are enemies to each other. But by using Christians as an enemy, close-minded people can use the books as examples of "Anti-Christ propaganda, blah, blah, blah."

This is really only the case with people who cannot tell the difference between a story and real life; which is sadly something that happens too often. But, even though I doubt this will ever be read, I feel as if fiction writers should try and find another enemy for Wiccan Warriors to fight.

And while they're at it, non-Wiccan writers should really do their research before writing about religions other than their own.

WooHoo!

I finished my altar cloth yesterday evening!
I did Celtic knot work branches in the corners, and different colored knots for the different directions.
Tell me what you think.

Hand Made

I believe, and have read, that hand made magick items work better than store bought items; because your own energy (and sometimes blood, sweat and tears!) is infused in it. I've made most of my own amulets, statues and altar cloths. (I also do this because I have loads of craft stuff, and no money to spend on store bought stuff)
And if you're like me, crafting feels like your only talent worth mentioning.
I am very proud of my embroidery skills, and I'm not half bad at sculpting polymer clay, either.
My opinion is, if you can make it yourself, you should.
